Drip Irrigation

Have You Ever Watered Your Houseplant or Balcony Container with an Entire Watering Can and Then Watched Powerlessly as the Water Just Drained Through the Dry Soil? In reality, plants thrive best when the soil is kept at just the right level of moisture, which is most easily achieved with drip irrigation.

Rarely do any of us have the time for daily “drip” watering, which is why drip irrigation systems can come to our rescue. Don’t know how to set up a drip irrigation system on your balcony or urban garden? Then come to the workshop, where everyone will be able to create their own basic drip irrigation system setup.

Using the example of creating a drip irrigation system for raised beds at the community garden of Center Rog, we will explore the basics and benefits of drip irrigation. Together, we will plan, build, and assemble a drip irrigation system. The workshop is designed to be very practical, and we will also take the time for practical tips on planning your own system from the perspective of winterizing, easily moving tubes for soil digging, using valves for bed separation, and more.

Prerequisites:

NO, prior knowledge is not required. The workshop is intended for all amateur gardeners who would like to equip their garden with a self-built irrigation system.

About the Mentors:

The workshop will be led by Kevin Hartman, an enthusiast in designing and handcrafting products and systems for growing living organisms. He works with hydroponics, aquaponics, indoor plant cultivation, and related technologies for sustainable food production. He specializes primarily in implementing projects for research and educational institutions.

Please arrive 15 minutes before the scheduled start time at the entrance hall of Center Rog. Please store your personal belongings in the lockers before the program begins. Do not be late for the program. If you arrive late, we cannot guarantee entry as you will not be able to join the creative process once it has started!

In case of cancellation, you will be informed no later than two days before the start of the program.
