Swedish rolls
19. 12. 2024
Swedish rolls are a popular pastry in Swedish culinary tradition, known for their fluffy texture, rich flavors, and the irresistible aroma that fills every home with warmth. They are an essential part of the Swedish fika ritual, a special moment for relaxation with coffee and delicious pastries, deeply rooted in Swedish daily life. Made from yeasted dough, they are filled with a mixture of butter, sugar, ground almonds, and aromatic spices such as cinnamon and cardamom. The most famous are the cinnamon rolls, which Swedes enjoy daily, while cardamom rolls are also quite popular.
Swedish rolls are not just pastries; they symbolize pleasant gatherings, tradition, and warmth. The Swedish rolls workshop is designed for anyone interested in learning how to make good yeasted dough and exploring Scandinavian cuisine. In this workshop, you will have the chance to learn techniques specific to Swedish rolls, such as rolling and folding the dough, shaping the rolls, baking, and glazing them.
Participants will learn the entire process of making rolls—from preparing the dough and fillings to shaping, baking, and glazing the rolls. They will prepare two types of rolls, cinnamon and cardamom, shaping them in two different ways.
About the mentors:
The workshop will be led by Andreja Špeh, a master's degree graduate in psychology who has always enjoyed creating in the kitchen. She started with baking desserts, which remains her greatest passion—especially making dough, modern sweets, and ice cream. In 2024, she participated in the Masterchef cooking competition and has since shared her culinary skills and knowledge through various workshops and cooking for the public.
