Advanced Workshop: Sewing Classic Trousers / Module 3

The classic trouser sewing course is the third module of the year-long in-house sewing program, which consists of two levels: beginner (Modules 1 to 3) and advanced (Modules 4 to 6).

In this third module of the beginner sewing course, we will focus on sewing classic trousers. The course combines skills from previous beginner courses and incorporates all elements of classic trousers: front pockets, patch pockets at the back, darts for better fit, a classic front zipper, sewing buttonholes, and belt loops. Completing this module provides an excellent foundation for progressing to the next level.

In this course, you will learn to take your own measurements, transfer and adjust a basic pattern, and sew using household and industrial sewing machines. You will also pick up some handy tips for sewing and ironing.

• Thursday, December 5, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM
• Friday, December 6, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM
• Wednesday, December 11, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM
• Thursday, December 12, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM

Prerequisites:
YES, prior knowledge is required. This course is suitable for participants who have already attended the beginner sewing course for elastic-waist trousers or maxi skirts or have acquired the necessary knowledge elsewhere. The program is designed for participants aged 14 and older but is not suitable for complete beginners.

• Material Guidelines:

The material for the trousers is included in the course fee and consists of either 100% cotton dark blue denim, or 100% natural linen in natural or turquoise colors. If you wish to use a different material, you must purchase it yourself. If purchasing fabric, please follow these guidelines:

- The fabric should be woven (not knit) and preferably made from natural fibers. Suitable options include heavier cotton, suiting wool (do not wash), linen, ramie, etc.

- The fabric should NOT contain elastane.

- How much fabric to buy: the length of the trousers + 50 cm. For special patterns (larger hip circumference, extra length, etc.), consult the mentors at the textile lab in advance at tekstil@center-rog.si.

• Prewash the fabric to prevent shrinkage later.

After completing Module 3, you are encouraged to join other modules in the year-long sewing program. Check out Module 4!

* You can attend the advanced level from Modules 4 to 6 if you have the appropriate prior knowledge (e.g., you have completed any beginner module (1–3), completed training in the textile lab, or acquired the necessary knowledge elsewhere). Advanced modules (4, 5, and 6) are NOT suitable for beginners!

* Participants who purchase at least five out of six modules (both from the beginner and advanced levels) will receive a free annual membership package at Center Rog worth €390 upon presenting proof of purchase.

* Participants who purchase at least three out of six modules in either the beginner or advanced level will receive a free monthly membership package at Center Rog worth €60 upon presenting proof of purchase.

About the Mentors:

The course will be led by mentors from the textile lab:

Karmen Gombač – Fashion designer, expert in pattern-making, sewing, and various textile techniques and technologies.

Zala Hrastar – Fashion designer, skilled in pattern-making, sewing, upcycling, and quilting.

Uroš Topić – Head of the textile lab, textile and fashion designer, tailor, and expert in historical clothing.

Participants should arrive 15 minutes before the scheduled start in the main lobby of Center Rog. Please store your personal belongings in the lockers indicated by the mentor. Late arrivals cannot be guaranteed access to the lab.

The program is conducted in Slovenian unless otherwise specified.

If the course is canceled, you will be notified two days before the scheduled start.

If you cannot attend, fees are non-refundable, and rescheduling is not possible. However, participation can be transferred to another person. Please notify us at least 24 hours before the program starts at tekstil@center-rog.si.
