Zadruga Allium

The ETRI Group development team is developing an innovative concept for moulded fibre packaging, combining design, material experimentation, and circular economy principles. By exploring local waste streams, plant fibres from invasive species, and natural binders derived from food by-products, the team is developing sustainable protective packaging inserts as an alternative to plastic. Moulded pulp technology enables the production of lightweight, functional, and custom-shaped inserts following a “one piece, one step” approach. The project includes the development of two product lines: robust packaging for transport and aesthetically refined packaging for gifts. By enabling materials to be re-fibred and processed again, the team is establishing a closed material loop that reduces the consumption of virgin raw materials and the amount of waste, while opening up new possibilities for the use of locally available resources.
