Rattles

You are invited to a creative children's workshop, Rattles. In a relaxed and imaginative atmosphere, we will create unique ceramic rattles using three types of clay: porcelain, high-temperature, and low-temperature clay. First, we will learn basic hand-building techniques (slab building, coiling, pinching). Then, using selected materials, we will shape hollow forms filled with tiny beads inside that create sound when moved.

The workshop is intended for children aged 8 and older.

During the workshop, children will develop their creativity while exploring the sound and physical properties of ceramics. In addition to fine motor skills, the workshop will also foster carefulness and responsibility, as the creations are fragile and delicate.

About the mentor:

The workshop will be led by Ana Ščuka, a designer and artist, as well as a graduate in unique design. She currently works in two fields of craftsmanship and design. She specializes in ceramic design and participates in multidisciplinary projects at both local and international levels. She is also the recipient of the Young Creator Awardat the 26th International Biennale of Vallauris 2024 in France.

Participants should gather 15 minutes before the scheduled time in the entrance hall of Center Rog. Please store your personal belongings in the lockers provided, as instructed by the mentor. Do not arrive late, as this disrupts the workflow. In case of delay, we unfortunately cannot guarantee entry into the lab.

The program is conducted in Slovenian, unless stated otherwise.

If the workshop is canceled, you will be notified two days in advance.

If you are unable to attend, fees are non-refundable, and rescheduling is not possible. However, you may transfer your spot to another person – please inform us at least 24 hours before the workshop via email at steklokeramika@center-rog.si.
