Rog’s Flavours of the World: A Portuguese Afternoon

Rog’s Flavours of the World is a series of culinary workshops dedicated to exploring cuisines from different countries around the world. Each workshop presents one country through its culinary traditions, characteristic ingredients and recipes.

This time, we will travel to Portugal. Do you still remember warm pastéis de nata, the smell of freshly fried cod or relaxed evenings on the streets of Lisbon? The workshop is intended for anyone who loves Portuguese cuisine — whether you have visited Portugal, spent an unforgettable Erasmus exchange there, or are simply curious about its flavours.

Together, we will prepare some of the most popular Portuguese dishes with cod, shellfish, chorizo and desserts. Among them will be the legendary pastéis de nata, the small custard tarts many people promise themselves they will make at home after returning from Portugal.

The workshop is practical and suitable for anyone who wants to discover Portuguese cuisine and learn a few dishes that can also be prepared at home. No prior knowledge is required.

The workshop will take place on Thursday, 8 October 2026, from 16:00 to 20:00 in the Cooking Lab.

About the mentor

The workshop will be led by Kristjan Bezgovšek, Cooking Lab mentor and chef at TaBar in Center Rog, Ljubljana. His work is based on carefully selected ingredients, precise techniques and a contemporary understanding of flavour.

Participants should gather in the entrance hall of Center Rog 15 minutes before the programme begins. Please store your personal belongings in the lockers indicated by the mentor. Do not be late, as this disrupts the working process. In case of late arrival, entry to the lab cannot be guaranteed.

The programme is held in Slovenian unless stated otherwise.

The programme is intended for participants aged 14 and above, unless stated otherwise.

In case of cancellation, you will be notified two days before the planned start of the programme.

If you are unable to attend the programme, the fee is non-refundable and the date cannot be changed. You may transfer your place to another person by notifying us at least 24 hours before the start at kuhanje@center-rog.si.
