Robotic Cars for Girls and Boys

We invite girls and boys between the ages of 11 and 15 who are interested in the world of technology and robotics to join our summer school. We will learn the basics of programming with the Micro:bit, with which we will build our own small robot car. We will get to know the 3D modeling software Tinkercad, design parts for the car in it, and produce them using a 3D printer or cut them from various materials with a laser cutter. For participation in the summer school, you don't need any prior knowledge, but if you have ever programmed in Scratch or have experience with 3D printing, that is an excellent starting point.

Each participant needs their own laptop/Chromebook

What is included in the price?

• 2 Micro:bits and all the necessary parts and materials to build the robot car, which participants will take home at the end of the course
• Lunches at the vegan restaurant Grashka

The summer school will be conducted in English. It will be led by Simone van Groenestijn, with assistance from Andrej Bertoncelj, a student of electrical engineering and mentor in the fab lab. He will take care of translation to Slovene, if needed.

About the mentor:

Simone van Groenestijn - Cym studied interaction design at the art academy in Amsterdam. She is working as a teacher for digital competences and IT in the Netherlands in primary and secondary schools. She has her own small maker space in the Netherlands where kids from 8 to 18 years old are coming every week to learn programming and to explore working with robotics.

Summer school will be conducted with a minimum of 8 registrations. In case of cancalation, you will be notified no later than 7 days before the start of the program. In this case, it will be possible to receive a refund of the fee.

Cancellation of participation without stating a reason is possible up to 7 days before the start of the program, in which case we will refund 50% of the paid fee. If the cancellation is later, the fee will not be refunded. In case of cancellation, participation can be transferred to another person or to another term, if we have available spots; please inform us of this when canceling by email at: info@center-rog.si

If a child cannot participate in the program due to health reasons, you can choose another term or request a refund of the entire fee based on a submitted medical certificate.
