Birdhouse

Spring is approaching, and the birds are nesting. All they need now is a cozy house where they can settle in and raise their young. We will build a bird nesting box and, in doing so, explore the world of birds while learning useful woodworking skills.

Throughout the workshop, children will familiarize themselves with various techniques such as sawing, drilling, gluing, and sanding, as well as the process of joining wood with screws. Using a handsaw and/or a vibration saw, we will cut a wooden board into the appropriate dimensions for the walls and roof of the birdhouse. We will drill two holes in the front panel—one serving as an entrance for the birds and the other for a small perch where they can rest. The wooden pieces will be sanded and assembled using screws. To allow for easy cleaning and feeding, the roof will be attached with hinges, making it possible to open it.

This workshop encourages creativity, patience, and manual skills while offering children a fun way to explore the world of craftsmanship. It is intended for children aged 7 to 13.

About the mentor:

The workshop will be led by Mira Lavtar, a mentor in the wood lab.

Participants should gather 15 minutes before the scheduled time in the entrance hall of Center Rog. Please store your personal belongings in the lockers, which will be shown to you by the mentor. Please do not be late, as it disrupts the workflow. If you are late, we cannot guarantee entry to the lab.

The program will be conducted in Slovenian unless stated otherwise.

In case of cancellation, we will notify you two days before the planned start.

If you cannot attend, we do not offer refunds, and rescheduling is not possible. You can transfer your participation to another person, but please inform us at least 24 hours before the program begins via email at les@center-rog.si
