Cook once, eat more than once: Lentil dishes (in Slovenian)
19. 5. 2026
In the Food Lab, we are launching a series of workshops titled “Cook once, eat more than once,” where we will explore how meal prepping can simplify everyday life, improve time management, and reduce the stress of the constant question “what should I cook today?”. We will learn how to prepare a variety of tasty, nutritious, and balanced meals from simple and accessible ingredients, which can be stored in the fridge or freezer and used later. At the same time, by cooking less frequently, we will reduce food waste and save money.
In the first workshop, we will get to know a practical approach to meal prepping that will make cooking organization easier and reduce the stress of deciding “What should I cook today?”.
The focus of the first session will be lentils, a versatile legume rich in protein, fiber, and minerals, making it an excellent base for nutritious and filling meals. Lentils are popular in many world cuisines, from Indian dals to Mediterranean stews, and their advantage is that they cook quickly and can easily be incorporated into everyday cooking.
During the workshop, we will explore different ways of using lentils and prepare several dishes suitable for make-ahead meals. We will make:
- lentil sauce (“bolognese”), ideal for pasta and freezing;
- a hearty lentil stew with sweet potato;
- a tasty lentil spread for quick meals or snacks.
We will use ingredients that are often already at home and learn how to turn them into varied dishes that can be combined in multiple ways. We will also learn proper storage methods for multi-day use.
The workshop is open to everyone who wants to eat more organized, healthy, and without daily cooking – and always have a delicious, ready-made meal on hand.
