Mini Course 3x3 - Clay Shaping with the Studio Biskvit Team
18. 1. 2024
In the 3x3 course, we will meet three times, each session lasting four hours, specifically on Thursday, January 18th, Monday, January 22nd and Thursday, January 25th, each time from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
We will explore the three most common hand-building techniques or clay shaping without a wheel.
The first session will be dedicated to getting acquainted with clay in a theoretical sense, primarily through touch. We will compare different types of clay and, based on their properties, choose the most suitable one for our projects.
We will then proceed with the most basic and primal clay shaping technique, known as pinching and create several smaller items that can be decorated and colored with engobes if desired.
The remaining time will be used to prepare materials for our next session, as clay needs to be weighed, kneaded, and rolled before use.
During the second session, we will learn the technique of coiling, using prepared clay to make bowls and/or plates that can be textured and colored as desired.
In the last session, we will build upon the acquired knowledge and tackle the technique of slab building, i.e., coiling and attaching to create larger forms. Each participant will create a vase or two cups.
The workshop is in collaboration with Studio Biskvit and is intended for adults.
Participants should gather in the entrance hall of the Center Rog 5 minutes before the agreed-upon time.
