Summer Holidays 2026 at Center Rog

In collaboration with Mala ulica, we are offering two programmes for children aged 7 to 10: Mala ulica Holidays at Center Rog and Let’s Make a Film!.

Together with Digital School, we are also preparing two programmes focused on learning the basics of programming: GameLab: 2D Games, Minecraft Education and AI for children aged 7 to 10, and WorldLab: 3D Worlds and AI for youngsters aged 10 to 15.

Mala ulica Holidays at Center Rog (ages 7–10)

Dates:

• July 6–10, 2026

We will visit production labs where we will explore different materials, tools, and machines. In the Green Lab, we will observe the world under a microscope and transfer it onto fabric using various textile techniques. We will visit the UNICUM ceramics exhibition, learn about biomaterials, and try making them ourselves. Every day we will prepare snacks together, and one day we will also cook a delicious lunch in the cooking lab.

There will also be time to visit a branch of the Ljubljana City Library, play board games, enjoy free play outdoors, and explore Center Rog.

The programme is intended for children from grades 2 to 5 of primary school, especially those who enjoy hands-on creativity.

Mala ulica: Let’s Make a Film! (ages 7–10)

Dates:

• June 29 – July 3, 2026

Together we will explore the magical world of animated film. We will learn the basic principles of moving images and try animating everything we can get our hands on. We will experiment with different animation techniques—from creating simple optical toys in the FabLab, object animation in the Materials Playground, to LEGO animation and pixilation (bringing ourselves to life in animation).

On the final day, we will combine all our creations into a collage of inspiring animations, add music, and watch them together. Children will learn animation processes, use the Stop Motion Studio app, and basic editing in CapCut. Work will be done in groups using tablets. One day we will visit Tivoli Hill. In the afternoons, we will explore handcraft skills such as crochet, embroidery, macramé, and more.

Digital School Summer Programme – GameLab: 2D Games, Minecraft Education and AI (ages 7–10)

Dates:

• July 6–10, 2026 – FULLY BOOKED
• August 24–28, 2026

This programme is designed for children to learn key skills through play—from efficient computer use and shortcuts to understanding algorithms. By creating 2D worlds, they will develop logical thinking, learn English programming commands, and discover how AI can support problem-solving.

We will use modern educational tools such as Blockly and Code.org as an introduction to programming, along with Minecraft Education for game-based learning. Special focus will be placed on interactive AI tools.

After lunch, participants will explore the labs at Center Rog, learn about machines and tools, and create with different materials. Activities include building toy cars, racing them, and even cooking a meal.

Digital School Summer Programme – WorldLab: 3D Worlds and AI (ages 10–16)

Dates:

This programme is designed for tech enthusiasts who want to create their own 3D game. Participants will develop spatial thinking by building 3D objects and programming interactions using the Sandbox Game Maker tool. They will also gain skills in video production and screen recording for their final project.

The final project will include elements of marketing and public presentation. Special focus will also be placed on interactive AI tools.

After lunch, participants will explore Center Rog’s labs, tools, and machines, and create with various materials, including working with clay and cooking their own meal.
