Simon Ecary

Simon Ecary (1997) is a French comic artist and illustrator, and this year’s resident of the international comics programme Tinta in Ljubljana. He lives and works in Angoulême, where he studied at the renowned ÉESI (École Européenne Supérieure de l’Image) school for comics and visual arts. His comics and illustrations have been published in zines, magazines, and comic anthologies such as Nicole and BubbleGum. He is currently completing his comic album Tornadino, l’égoïsme tardif, which will be released in early 2026 by the acclaimed French independent publisher Cornélius. In his work, he merges the aesthetics of classic comics and picture books with the subversiveness of independent production and art brut. His comics are defined by simple line drawings, flat and caricatured figures, dynamic framing, and striking colour contrasts, which he uses to construct dreamy, playful, and occasionally bizarre worlds.

On residency until 30 October 2025.
