Margaux Minodier and Manon Pigeon
Manon Pigeon and Margaux Minodier are two artist-designers based in Brussels. Ten years ago, they met at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels, each studying in one of the school's two textile departments : Textile Arts (Tapestry) and Textile Design. They learned different weaving approaches, using different tools, studied different historical periods and movements, for different purposes. At the time, they had to «choose their side». Their paths gradually allowed them to broaden their respective practices to painting, graphic design, and 3D motion design for Margaux, and cartography, pedagogy, and mediation for Manon. While discussing together what could mean «Boundaries and Frictions» in textile, they quickly became aware of the limits of verbal language. The lexicon issues led them to a visual dialogue, through drawing and a hands-on reflection on a weaving loom. This collaborative process gave birth to the «Double Trouble» project. “Double Trouble is not only about what we make, but how we make it. How we interact with materials and each other. How we embrace the unexpected, cultivate trust and spontaneity. How we push ourselves to go out of our comfort zones. How we take advantage of frictions and boundaries. “
