Vase from a Bottle

Join us for a workshop in our glass lab, where we will transform a waste bottle into a beautiful vase for fresh or dried flowers, which will also be a lovely decoration on its own.

We will enhance the vase using cold glassworking techniques – engraving, etching, and sandblasting, which allow for drawing on glass as well as creating patterns and reliefs.

The workshop is intended for young people from 12 to 16 years. In addition to cold glassworking techniques, we will also explore principles of sustainability and recycling and get to know glass as a creative medium.

About the mentors:

The workshop will be led by two mentors from the glass-ceramics lab at Rog Center.

Brigita Gantar graduated in 2021 from the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana, specializing in Unique Design. During her studies, she was a demonstrator in the Unique Design program for subjects related to the glass medium. She actively participates in various exhibitions and attends various courses to further her knowledge. Through her work, she primarily explores glass and ceramic design. She leads various workshops and designs unique ceramics. In the new Rog Center, she is the head of the glass-ceramics lab.

Nika Šantej completed her undergraduate studies in Unique Design at ALUO and graduated from the art program at Celje – Center High School. Since 2022, she has been a demonstrator in glass department exercises at ALUO. She has exhibited in several group and two solo exhibitions in Slovenia. In both her artistic works and functional objects, she primarily expresses herself through glass, connecting it with industrial design, photography, ceramics, and sculpture.

Participants are to gather 15 minutes before the scheduled start time in the entrance hall of the Rog Center. Please store your personal belongings in the lockers before the program begins. Do not be late for the program. Entry is not guaranteed in case of late arrival - once the creative process begins, it is no longer possible to join in!

In case of cancellation, you will be notified no later than two days before the program starts.

In case of non-attendance, fees are non-refundable, and it is also not possible to reschedule. Participation can be transferred to another person; please notify us at least 24 hours before the start at the email address: steklokeramika@center-rog.si.
