Training: Mimaki Digital Printer
17. 6. 2025

The training at the digital printing station is aimed at teaching the safe and proper use of the MIMAKI TX300P digital printer.
The Mimaki digital printer uses an 8-cartridge system with reactive dyes to achieve exceptional color depth and richness. Reactive dyes (used for printing on natural cellulose and protein fibers as well as polyamide) are among the most durable and intense in digital fabric printing.
For digital printing, the fabric must be properly prepared in advance – coated with a special finish that allows the dye to migrate into the fiber during the fixation process, permanently bonding to it. Printing on raw, non-finished fabric would be unstable and unusable. It is also not possible to print on finished products or semi-finished items (such as t-shirts, bed linens with zippers and buttons, etc.). Users can purchase fabric for digital printing from the textile lab. Different types of cotton are available (cotton poplin for shirts, jersey and twill for bags or jackets), a blend of cotton and linen (for bed linens, summer dresses, and shirts), and silk (dense satin, suitable for scarves, evening dresses, etc.).
How will the training on the digital printer proceed?
- Participants will learn how to use the computer program for preparing the print (image input, layout, checking dimensions, reporting, etc.). They will get to know the printer, how to set up the fabric roll for printing, thread it correctly, and perform a test print. Together, we will create a print sample, which we will later fix.
- After successfully completing the test print, we will fix the fabric swatch with the printed design in the steamer. The fixed fabric will be washed, and the final result will be checked. If there are any mistakes, we will learn how to avoid them or what to do if they occur.
Since we only print small quantities of fabric in our lab, there are more chances for mistakes and irregularities (e.g., stains on the edges of the fabric, condensation droplets from the steamer on the print, etc.). These are part of the process of experimentation and discovering new technologies, so no claims for failed prints will be possible.
MACHINE DESCRIPTION:
- Mimaki TX300P Digital Printer
- Material: printing on natural fiber fabrics up to 190 cm in width
- Uses 8 cartridges with reactive dyes (CMYK & Red, Gray, Orange, and Blue)
- Uses a steamer for fixing prints
The training is suitable for participants aged 14 and older.
*In order to best understand the transfer of digital images to fabric, we invite you to send us a photo/design you would like to print on fabric to this email – tekstil@center-rog.si. The dimensions of the image should not exceed 30 cm x 50 cm. We will print on 100% cotton poplin, which is suitable for making shirts, bed linens, or other lighter clothing items.

The participants are expected to gather 15 minutes before the scheduled time in the entrance hall of Center Rog. Please store your personal belongings in the locker rooms, which the mentor will show you. Please do not be late as it may disrupt the working process. If you are late, we will unfortunately not be able to guarantee entry into the lab.
The program will be conducted in Slovenian, unless otherwise stated.
In case of cancellation, we will notify you two days prior to the scheduled start.
If you are unable to attend the program, the fee will not be refunded, and it is not possible to change the date. You can transfer your participation to another person; please notify us at least 24 hours before the start at: tekstil@center-rog.si
We look forward to your company and collaborative creation.
