Unique Lamp-Making Course
23. 10. 2026
In this unique lamp-making course, we will combine knowledge from the Metal Lab, Wood Lab and FabLab to create a freestanding lamp that you will take home at the end of the programme.
The course offers a complete insight into the process of designing and making a lamp. We will work with different materials and technologies: metal, wood, 3D modelling, 3D printing and the basics of electrical wiring.
In the FabLab, we will first model a custom lampshade in Onshape and print it with a 3D printer. We will also learn the basics of electrical wiring: how to prepare the cable, switch and basic elements that will be integrated into the final product.
In the Metal Lab, we will make the metal structure of the lamp. We will cut tubes to size, prepare iron elements, drill holes, sand, weld and clean the finished structure.
In the Wood Lab, we will make a stable base. We will learn the process of working with solid wood from plank to finished product: cutting on the circular saw, planing, gluing into a board, cutting into a circle or another shape, fine sanding and protecting the surface with a natural wood finish.
Throughout the process, we will connect all the main components into a functional, aesthetic and unique object. The programme is suitable for anyone interested in product design, combining different materials and hands-on work across several labs.
No prior knowledge is required.
