You are warmly invited to a sensory 2-day workshop where we will explore, through making, the relationship between the body, material, and touch. Guided by intuition and direct contact with clay, the focus will not be on the perfect final object, but on the process—on exploring surfaces, forms, and our personal experience of the material.

During the workshop, we will use our hands to shape small, three-dimensional clay objects, roughly the size of a palm. We will experiment with different forming approaches, observe how the material responds to pressure, trace, and movement, and develop a sense of form through touch. The created elements will then be brought together into a collective spatial composition—a miniature landscape or sensory board that will find its place in the Material Playground at Center Rog.

We will focus on the direct experience of the material: how we perceive it, how we respond to it, and how it guides us in the creative process. At the same time, we will strengthen our awareness that it is the process itself where learning and creativity are most deeply expressed.

The workshop is designed as an open and inclusive space, welcoming both those with a background in design and those who are just beginning to explore clay. Participants aged 14 and above are welcome.

After the workshop, the Glass and Ceramics Lab team will take care of drying and firing the objects.

The workshop will be held in English.

About the mentor

The workshop will be led by Karina Marusińska, an interdisciplinary artist, lecturer, and cultural organizer working across ceramics, glass, installation, and performance. Her practice explores relationships between the body, materials, and society, as well as themes such as imperfection, everyday objects, and social margins. She currently teaches at the Faculty of Ceramics and Glass at the Academy of Art and Design in Wrocław, Poland.
