Light Guerrilla 2025: Disruptions

At this year’s 19th edition of the Light Guerrilla festival, Center Rog will also participate. The Park of the Erased will be transformed into a magical light venue where Finnish artist Antti Kulmala will present two stunning light installations titled Vectors of Light and Olio.

In designing the Vectors of Light project, the artist was inspired by the patterns of everyday movement in cities. To illustrate the randomness and unpredictability of such movement dynamics, he developed a system using colored strings, pulleys, and motors to direct a series of light threads through space. The minimalist geometric arrangement at three locations, resembling analog laser beams, creates an ever-changing light backdrop that affects the image itself, or the viewer’s perception of the urban space. Additionally, the artist will present a series of kinetic sculptures titled Olio in the Park of the Erased in front of Center Rog, which, through rotation, create a unique illusion of transforming matter into light waves.

About the artist:

ANTTI KULMALA graduated in 2005 from the Academy of Arts in Turku, Finland. He creates in the fields of light art and site-specific installations. In his multidisciplinary work, he often combines various elements, such as sound, light, and video. Kulmala is the author of several light installations at home and abroad, and his works have been exhibited at numerous light festivals across Europe. Among other things, he also works as the artistic director of the groups SirkusUnioni and Arnold Kulmala Oy.
