Glass Coasters in the Tiffany Technique

At the workshop, we will create unique decorative coasters for glasses using the traditional Tiffany stained glass technique. Under expert guidance, we will learn the entire process of making the product – from the initial idea and technical sketch to the final creation.

First, we will design the pattern and prepare templates, then move on to cutting and grinding the glass. The individual pieces will be joined through soldering, characteristic of the Tiffany technique, and if desired, the final piece can also be additionally finished with patination.

During the workshop, we will create our own glass coaster and learn the basic processes of stained glass making. We will explore motif planning, glass cutting and grinding, and assembling individual elements into a functional and aesthetically refined object.

Previous knowledge?

NO, no prior knowledge is required.

Does the workshop count as training?

YES, by attending the workshop, you will receive training for the Tiffany workstation.

About the mentors

The workshop will be led by Nika Šantej and Nina Podobnikar, mentors in the glass and ceramics lab.

Participants should arrive 15 minutes before the start of the programme in the entrance lobby of Center Rog. Please store your personal belongings in the lockers, which will be shown to you by the mentor. Please do not be late, as this disrupts the working process. In case of late arrival, we unfortunately cannot guarantee entry into the lab.

The programme is held in Slovenian unless stated otherwise.

The programme is intended for participants aged 14 and above unless stated otherwise.

In case of cancellation, we will notify you two days before the scheduled start.

If you are unable to attend, participation fees are non-refundable and the date cannot be changed. You may transfer your participation to another person by informing us at least 24 hours before the start at steklokeramika@center-rog.si
