Community Kitchen: Balkan Flavours
25. 9. 2026
You are invited to Community Kitchen, an interactive culinary gathering where people from different cultural backgrounds come together and explore the flavours of the Balkans through food.
In this workshop, we will prepare three characteristic dishes that reflect the diversity of Balkan culinary traditions:
- krompiruša and sirnica, traditional pitas with potato and cheese, where we will also learn how to properly stretch the dough;
- shopska salad, a refreshing classic that is an essential part of meals in many Balkan homes;
- koh, a dessert based on a grandmother’s recipe, rooted in Austro-Hungarian culinary tradition and today popular in many countries across the Balkans.
Join us in preparing food and co-creating an open, collaborative environment where food becomes a shared language of connection. By taking part in the workshop, you enable one person from another community to attend free of charge.
Community Kitchen continues the pilot project we launched this spring in the Cooking Lab at Center Rog, in collaboration with ZRC SAZU and migrant, refugee and immigrant associations in Slovenia. The aim of the project is to connect through food, exchange experiences and learn about different cultures.
