Let's build a glider
17. 5. 2025

This time’s workshop in the wood lab will be something special, as children will be creating across two consecutive Saturdays and building their own glider. We’ll be working with balsa wood, which is one of the lightest types of wood. Because of that, it is most commonly used in model making, which the children will get to know during the workshop.
In the first session, equipped with pre-prepared materials and a construction plan, we’ll begin by making the airplane wing. Following the plan, we’ll glue the wing ribs, adjust them if necessary, and sand them. While the glued wing structure dries, we’ll make the fuselage and tail of the airplane.
In the second session, we’ll complete the fuselage and wing structure of the airplane, then apply modeling foil or special-purpose paper to the wing. To make the glider truly special and unique, we’ll finish it with some painting. If the weather is nice, we’ll end the workshop with a glider competition in the Park of the Erased in front of Center Rog.
The workshop is open to children aged between 8 and 15.
