Design for Makers – 3D Modeling in Onshape
21. 5. 2026
3D modeling is one of the key skills of modern creation, as it enables direct communication with digital tools and machines. Join our course, where we will take the first steps into the world of 3D modeling. Instead of using pre-made solutions, we will learn how to transform our own ideas into precise digital designs ready for production, and how to develop, adapt, and enhance them. We will use Onshape, a modern, professional tool that works directly in a web browser—no installation required and completely free.
Through practical exercises, we will gradually master the entire process: from the first sketch to creating a 3D model, technical drawings, and preparing files for laser cutting, CNC machining, or 3D printing. By the end, each of us will complete our own project with documentation ready for actual production in the various labs of Center Rog.
This course is open to anyone who wants to understand modern manufacturing processes—from creators and designers to craftsmen and complete beginners.
In the course, we will:
- explore the Onshape work environment and the logic of 3D modeling;
- create sketches and develop them into 3D models (extrude, revolve, sweep, loft);
- understand the importance of correct operation sequences and parametric thinking;
- model different types of objects through guided practical exercises;
- assemble multiple parts into a complete assembly and understand the relationships between them;
- produce technical drawings and bills of materials;
- prepare files for various production processes (DXF, STEP, STL);
- develop good practices and efficient approaches to modeling.
The program is designed as the first module of a modular 3D design system, which is later expanded with specialized courses for the FabLab, woodworking lab, and metalworking lab.
Please bring your own laptop to the course.
