Little Maker: Carpentry Course for Children (2nd Term) (in Slovenian)

The Wood Lab invites young creators to join a summer carpentry course. Under the guidance of an experienced mentor, we will get to know real carpentry tools, use both hand and cordless tools, and learn the basics of carpentry operations.

Together we will measure, saw, sand, screw, and assemble wooden elements. We will create four practical wooden products:

• a toolbox
• an insect hotel
• a small stool
• a hanger for clothes, medals, or decorative items

In addition to strengthening manual skills and fine motor abilities, participants will also develop independence in their work and a sense of aesthetics. Young carpenters will not only gain technical knowledge but also essential skills in teamwork and problem-solving in a group and in real-life situations.

The summer carpentry school is intended for children aged 9 to 15.

Course dates

4 sessions of 3 hours each

• Monday, August 10, from 10:00 to 13:00
• Tuesday, August 11, from 10:00 to 13:00
• Wednesday, August 12, from 10:00 to 13:00
• Thursday, August 13, from 10:00 to 13:00

About the mentor

The course will be led by Gal Žvab, a mentor in the Woodworking Lab and a wood engineering specialist who also shares his knowledge with younger generations as a teacher at a secondary woodworking school.

Participants are asked to gather 15 minutes before the scheduled time in the entrance lobby of Center Rog. Please store your personal belongings in the lockers indicated by the mentor. Please arrive on time, as delays disrupt the workflow. In case of lateness, we unfortunately cannot guarantee entry to the lab.

The program is conducted in Slovenian unless stated otherwise.

In the event of cancellation, you will be notified two days before the planned start.

If you are unable to attend, participation fees are non-refundable and cannot be transferred to another date. You may transfer your spot to another person; please notify us at least 24 hours before the program begins at: les@center-rog.si
