Pearl on Pearl or How a Glass Necklace is Made
16. 5. 2024
Glass jewelry enthusiasts shouldn't miss the workshop where they'll learn about the technique of shaping glass over a flame, also known as lampworking. By heating glass, we can create various objects ranging from glass beads to intricate figurines and ornaments.
The workshop will be held in collaboration with the School Center Rogaška Slatina. Initially, students will demonstrate how to create more complex and precise shapes over the flame. Later on, participants will have the opportunity to try out the technique themselves. You'll learn how to use the torch, apply a separator, gather glass, and create basic shapes. Concurrently, wire settings for pendants, earrings, or bracelets will be prepared in the jewelry lab.
Prerequisites:
NO, prior knowledge is not required. The workshop is open to anyone interested in learning the technique of shaping glass over a flame, as well as the technique of wire shaping and stringing beads onto wire.
Does the workshop count as training?
YES, by participating in the workshop, you will complete training in lampworking (priced at €30 for members/€40 for non-members) – next time, you'll be able to use this workstation independently during open sessions.
About the instructors:
