Light Summer Dress

In every summer wardrobe, a light summer kaftan is a must-have, serving both as a stunning outfit for an evening out and as essential beachwear.

In this textile lab workshop, you will have the opportunity to sew your own summer kaftan. All you need are a few simple rectangular pattern pieces (similar to kimono patterns) and some basic sewing skills on either an industrial or home sewing machine.

Bring your own fabric and matching thread to the workshop. Instead of standard fabric, you can also use bedsheets with interesting prints; the more beautiful the print, the more striking your kaftan will be, as the fabric truly comes to life in such a garment. Let your imagination run wild! This is your chance to finally dress in the boldest patterns or brightest colors that will shine in the summer sun.

Fabric Purchase Guidelines

• Option 1: Kaftan from Uniform Pattern Fabric
  
  - For Fabric Width 140 cm you will need 350 cm of fabric.
  - For Fabric Width 110 cm you will need 400 cm of fabric.
  
• Option 2: Long Kaftan with Cuffs, Neckline Trim, and Waistband from Contrasting Material
  
  - For Fabric Width 140 cm you will need 200 cm of main fabric and 150 cm of contrasting fabric for cuffs, neckline trim, and waistband.
  - For Fabric Width 110 cm you will need 300 cm of main fabric and 150 cm of contrasting fabric for cuffs, neckline trim, and waistband.

Prerequisites:
YES, knowledge of sewing on a domestic or industrial sewing machine is required. This workshop is for adults and teenagers from the age of 15 and older.

Is the Workshop a Training Program?
YES, attending this workshop counts as training for the sewing workstation.

About the Mentors:
The workshop will be led by Uroš Topić, the Head of the Textile Lab, who is passionate about pattern drafting and historical clothing, and Karmen Gombač, a mentor at the Textile Lab and expert in pattern drafting, sewing, and various textile techniques, skilled in solving any sewing problem.

Please arrive 15 minutes before the scheduled start time at the entrance hall of Center Rog. Before the program begins, please store your personal belongings in the lockers provided. Do not be late for the program. Late arrivals will not be admitted – once the creative process has started, latecomers will not be able to join!

If the program is canceled, you will be informed at least two days before the start of the program.

No refunds will be issued for missed sessions, and rescheduling is not possible. You may transfer your registration to another person, but you must notify us at least 24 hours before the start of the program at the email address: tekstil@center-rog.si.
