For all cyclists – this spring we are launching a series of three courses on making waterproof bags for your bikes! Make your cycling adventures in the warmer months even more enjoyable with custom-made bags for food, drinks, small tools, accessories, and more.

In the third course, we will create a custom bag for your two-wheeled metal (or carbon) friend. The frame bag is the most integrated and aerodynamic way to add storage space to your bike and is an essential companion for multi-day adventures as well as short trips. In this course, we will design a pattern for a custom bike bag, taking into account all the functional requirements of the user. Like the previous bags in the series, frame bags will be lightweight, waterproof, and functional. We will learn skills in cutting frame bags, planning functional details, installing zippers, and finishing the interior with piping.

IMPORTANT!

For the first session, bring the bike for which you want to make the bag. If you plan to make a half bag (like the sample in the photo), have bottle cages and bottles installed on your bike so we can account for them when cutting. Also bring any accessories you plan to store or use in the bag (light battery, Garmin charger, water reservoir, etc.). A locked bike storage area will be available during the course.

Prior knowledge?

YES, prior knowledge is required. The course is suitable for individuals skilled in using a sewing machine and participants of the first and/or second course in the bike bag series. The program is intended for participants over 14 years old.

Does the course count as training?

YES, participation in the course also provides training for the sewing station.

Material Guidelines

The material for the bag is included in the course fee: Challenge sailcloth ECOPAK™ EPLX 400 in white or black for the bag body, and 70D ripstop with PU coating in orange or black for the lining. Most of the hardware will also be provided in black. If you want a different material, you can purchase it yourself. If you buy fabric, please follow these guidelines:

  • The fabric should be heavier, waterproof, coated, or laminated (ECOPAK, XPAC). If you want to use the seam sealing tape available in the lab, you must purchase material from the Challenge EPLX series. For textiles with PU or AC coating, you also need the corresponding tape for sealing seams. For the lining, we recommend at least 70D fabric with PU coating on the backside.
  • How much fabric do I need? For the bag, you need material equal to the desired bag height + 20 cm. For special requests (different color cords, straps, or zippers), consult the textile lab mentors in advance at tekstil@center-rog.si.

About the mentors

The course will be led by the textile lab mentors:

Mark Cvelbar, textile lab mentor, expert in functional cuts and materials, outdoor equipment, and repairs of gear and clothing.

Karmen Gombač, fashion designer, master of cutting, sewing, and knowledgeable in various textile techniques and technologies.

Courses costing more than €100 can be paid in two installments. Payment in two installments is possible at the “Made in Rog” store or via bank transfer upon invoice if you write to tajnistvo@center-rog.s

Participants should gather 15 minutes before the program starts in the main lobby of Center Rog. Please store personal belongings in the lockers provided by the mentor. Do not be late, as this disrupts the workflow. Entry to the lab cannot be guaranteed in case of delay.

The program is conducted in Slovenian, unless otherwise indicated.

The program is intended for participants over 14 years old, unless otherwise indicated.

In case of cancellation, we will notify you two days before the scheduled start. The course fee is non-refundable, and it is not possible to change the date. Participation can be transferred to another person if you notify us at least 24 hours in advance at tekstil@center-rog.si.

We look forward to your company and shared creativity!
