Create your own phonotrope
14. 6. 2025

Have you ever spun a vinyl record and danced along to the music? A special optical toy called a phonotrope is made using a gramophone – the predecessor of many modern music players. Imagine drawing pictures on vinyl records and watching them come to life as they spin. But is it really possible to see moving images on something spinning so fast?
At this workshop, we will reveal the technical secret behind this unique animation device. With the help of mentors and tools available at Center Rog, each participant will create their own phonotrope and design a short spinning animation.
The workshop is free and intended for children aged 9 and up.
