In the food lab, we will be preparing traditional Idrija Dumplings, a dish that holds the distinction of being the first in Slovenia to receive EU protection as a "Traditional Specialty Guaranteed." These dumplings were traditionally made for special occasions and were not an everyday meal.

This dish consists of a pasta dough encasing small potato-based fillings, carefully shaped into their distinctive form. The recipe follows a traditional 19th-century method, and the dumplings are most commonly served with "bakalca", another signature dish from Idrija.

This workshop is open to all adults interested in learning about Slovenian traditional and locally unique dishes and gaining hands-on experience in their preparation.

About the mentor:

Iva Verbnik is a graduate food technology engineer who has been researching nutrition for over 35 years. She focuses on maintaining vitality and preventing diseases through proper nutrition, incorporating medicinal herbs into her approach. Her mission is to share knowledge about healthy eating and the use of local, natural ingredients.

Participants should gather 15 minutes before the scheduled time in the entrance hall of Center Rog. Please store your personal belongings in the lockers provided, as instructed by the mentor. Do not arrive late, as this disrupts the workflow. In case of delay, we unfortunately cannot guarantee entry into the lab.

The program is conducted in Slovenian, unless stated otherwise.

If the workshop is canceled, you will be notified two days in advance.

If you are unable to attend, fees are non-refundable, and rescheduling is not possible. However, you may transfer your spot to another person – please inform us at least 24 hours before the workshop via email at kuhanje@center-rog.si.

We look forward to your company and shared creativity.
