Metal Engraving - Masterclass with Anastasia Young

Renowned British jewellery designer and master engraver Anastasia Young will take you into the magical world of metal engraving. In this masterclass, you will learn the basics of engraving, learn how to make professional engraving tools, and learn how to sharpen and safely use engraving knives. You will then transfer your engraving skills to metal by creating different patterns and lettering.

The masterclass will be held in two parts. In the first part you will learn how to make engraving tools and how to grind them properly. In the second part of the masterclass, you will learn how to transfer different designs onto metal, followed by engraving in metal plate.

Previous knowledge:

YES, jewellery design skills, goldsmithing skills and/or first level training in a jewellery lab is required.

About the mentor:

The masterclass will be led by English jewellery designer Anastasia Young, renowned author and lecturer. A graduate of the Royal College of Art and Central Saint Martins College, she subsequently taught and gave short courses in jewellery making for 20 years. She has written four books on jewellery making techniques, which have been translated into seven languages and are considered to be the key professional literature in the field of jewellery design and making. In 2017 Anastasia was appointed to the Board of Directors of The Association for Contemporary Jewellery, and is also involved in the Hand Engravers Association and the Society of Jewellery Historians.

Participants should meet 15 minutes before the agreed time in the entrance hall of the Center Rog. Please, before the start of the program, put your personal belongings in the locker rooms. Do not be late for the program. In case of delay, entry is not guaranteed - once the creative process begins, it is no longer possible to join in!

The programme is held in Slovene language unless stated otherwise.
