Join us for a hands-on workshop where we’ll explore the full process of refining natural clay—from harvesting and soaking to sieving, drying, and shaping. Participants will be actively involved in every stage and gain firsthand experience working with clay—a natural material that humans have been shaping for thousands of years.

In addition to creating functional or decorative objects, working with clay offers a meditative, tactile experience—an excellent antidote to the fast pace of modern life.

This demonstration is part of the accompanying program to the exhibition Heritage of the Future by the contemporary craft platform MADE IN. Visit the exhibition until 6 September 2025 at the Grand Hall of Center Rog and until 14 September 2025 at the Museum of Architecture and Design (MAO).

About the mentor:

The workshop is led by Urban Magušar, an industrial designer, ceramicist, potter, and educator. In addition to his own artistic work, he has designed several collections of functional ceramics, which he also produces in his studio in Radovljica. He is the founder of the Magušar Pottery and Ceramic Design Studio in the Fužine Mill and the Pottery Atelier at SEM. He has organized seven pottery festivals and is the author of the project Practice Makes the Master, which he ran through his association Fabrika Fabijana (a member of the European Outsider Art Association – EOA). This project focused on working with people with special needs and training mentors for working with clay. Over nearly five decades of professional practice, he has consistently lectured, exhibited, and organized workshops, exhibitions, and expert events in the field of ceramics.

Practical info:
Please arrive 15 minutes before the scheduled start time at the main entrance hall of Center Rog. We kindly ask that you store your personal belongings in the lockers provided by your mentor. Late arrivals may not be able to join the session, as this disrupts the workshop process.

The program is held in Slovene, unless otherwise specified.

In case of cancellation, we will notify you two days before the scheduled start.

Please note: Participation fees are non-refundable and dates are non-transferable. However, you may transfer your registration to another person—please inform us at least 24 hours in advance at: steklokeramika@center-rog.si

We look forward to welcoming you and creating together!
