Colors of Center Rog

If Center Rog were a color, which one would you choose for it?

Center Rog, rich in its unique urban nature, is also a treasure trove of natural plant dyes suitable for textile dyeing.

Join us for a three-day workshop, "Colors of Center Rog," where in the first phase, we will prepare plants in the green lab and create dye baths from them, dyeing Slovenian organic sheep wool in vibrant natural tones that symbolically represent the colors of Center Rog. In the second part, during a two-day workshop in the textile lab, we will use the dyed wool for tufting and create a modular carpet. Each participant will contribute their unique piece to the communal textile carpet and gain practical knowledge about the process of wool dyeing and tufting. In addition to the communal carpet, each participant will have the opportunity to create one smaller tufted item to take home.

Join us on this creative journey where each contribution will be a unique and invaluable part of our collective textile artwork. Together, we will explore and co-create a space rich in color, life, and warmth.

The workshop is part of the accompanying program for the retrospective exhibition O2OOP, which will be on display from June 20 to August 17, 2024.

Prerequisites:

NO, prior knowledge is not required. The workshop is intended for adults who wish to acquire new skills and experience creative collaboration within a group.

About the Mentors:

The Colors of Rog project is led by textile designers and artists Tjaša Bavcon and Katja Burger Kovič from the Oloop collective. Both hold a Master of Arts in Textile Design and are recipients of significant domestic and international awards (DOS Award, BIO, Trend, Henkel Art Award, Red Dot Design).

Participants are requested to gather 15 minutes before the scheduled time in the main lobby of Center Rog. Please store your personal belongings in the lockers before the program starts. Do not be late. We cannot guarantee entry after the program begins, as it is not possible to join once the creative process has started.

In case of non-execution, you will be notified no later than two days before the program starts.

In case of non-attendance, fees are non-refundable, and rescheduling is not possible. However, you can transfer your participation to another person by notifying us at least 24 hours before the program starts at the email address: tekstil@center-rog.si.
