Rog Centre development in full swing
We are delighted to inform you that construction work on the former Rog factory is proceeding to plan and that the building is on track to open, as scheduled, in 2023. As our neighbours, you may be wondering how much longer the noise from the construction site will continue: we would like to thank you for your patience and assure you that the noisiest of the work will be finished by November this year.
While the construction work is ongoing, the Rog Centre team are busy consulting with experts from a wide range of fields – textile design, woodwork, metalwork, green technologies, glass, ceramics, cookery, electronics and computer-aided manufacturing technologies – on the optimal layout and equipment for the shared production spaces. These laboratories and workshops, running to over 1000 m2, will be available to amateur makers of all ages as well as professionals, on the basis of an affordable membership fee. At the end of October we will also be consulting with end users about our plans for these production spaces.
Plans are also in place for a public park on the site of the former factory, providing approximately 8000 m2 of new green space in the centre of Ljubljana, including extensive lawns, public graffiti walls, fruit trees and an edible garden. The plans for the park are expected to be made public in the spring of 2022, at which point nearby residents and other interested parties will be able to suggest additional park amenities.
In parallel with this, the Rog Centre team is also planning a number of participatory processes, due to start in early 2022. The aim is to work with the professional community to design innovative models for collaborative management and programme development, thereby ensuring that the Rog Centre will be a truly shared creative centre.
More information about the construction project, including 3D models of the building showing what each of the individual spaces will be used for, can be found in the latest Rog Centre brochure.
