Join the caretakers of Park Izbrisanih

The green oasis in front of the creative center stretches across almost 8,000 m². Part of the park is designed as an orchard with Slovenian native fruit trees, such as cherry, apple, pear, persimmon, plum, peach, and more. Various other trees are also planted, each offering an edible part—for example, black and white mulberry, wild pear and apple, walnut, linden, and others. This section of the park has a lawn that is regularly mowed.

In the other part of the park, there is a meadow for bees, which is mowed only twice a year and, together with the trees, provides food for various pollinators, including bees that live in two hives on the roof of Center Rog. The park also includes a learning garden consisting of 24 raised beds for growing vegetables and learning urban gardening practices. Climbers are planted along the walls, from grapevines to kiwi.

• What does the work of the Park Izbrisanih caretakers involve?
  
  Caretakers’ tasks include removing grass around trees, mulching, caring for park trees, fertilizing the lawn, and other tasks that ensure the park remains beautiful, tidy, and functional. Park maintenance follows the seasons and the needs of the plants and insects that inhabit it. Experts are occasionally invited to caretaker meetings—from tree care specialists to pollinator and urban plant specialists—who share their knowledge and experience.
  
• Who can join?
  
  Anyone aged 15 or older who is interested in horticulture, environmental protection, or simply wants to spend time in nature and help maintain green spaces in an urban environment is welcome to join the Park Izbrisanih volunteer team. Individuals, families, retirees, students, and high schoolers are all invited. Join us and become part of the community caring for and improving our growing park, where attention to young plants is especially important.
  
• What do you get as a volunteer?
  
  Volunteers will sign a volunteer agreement valid for one year from the date of joining. As a Park Izbrisanih volunteer caretaker, regular participation entitles you to transport reimbursement and a one-year free membership to Center Rog, which comes with many benefits.

Meetings are expected about once a month, with the first 2026 meeting likely in April.
