Holiday care and summer schools for children and young people at the Center Rog

Together with Digital School, we are preparing two different programs to explore the basics of programming: GameLab: 3D Worlds, Minecraft, and AI, designed for children aged 7 to 10, and FutureLab: 3D Creation, Design, and AI, for young people aged 10 to 16.

In collaboration with Mala ulica, we are preparing three different programs for children aged 7 to 10: Mala ulica Summer Holidays at the Center Rog Labs, Let’s Play Film!, and Threads, Fabric, and Hands for Kids.

• Digital School Summer Programming School: GameLab: 3D Worlds, Minecraft, and AI (7-10 years)

Dates:

July 7 – July 11, 2025

August 25 – August 29, 2025

The morning program is designed for children to acquire basic computer skills, shortcuts, and programming knowledge, develop spatial awareness through 3D design, and learn how artificial intelligence can assist in creating and solving challenges. We will combine several modern tools, such as Code.org and Minecraft Education for programming, CodeHatchXR for design and animation, and various AI tools to enhance the children's digital competencies. If you choose the full-day program, workshops in the production labs of Center Rog are included, where we will create with clay, explore the world under the microscope, design jewelry from metal, build and race cars on a racing track, and cook lunch together.

The morning program is designed for young people who wish to explore modern digital skills such as design, artificial intelligence (AI), 3D modeling, and 3D printing through creation and play. Using innovative tools like Canva, Tinkercad, Spline, and AI platforms, participants will develop their creative and technical abilities and learn the basics of UX/UI design. If you choose the full-day program, workshops in the production labs of Center Rog are included, where we will create with clay, explore the world under the microscope, design jewelry from metal, create a simple board game in the woodworking lab, and explore screen printing on textiles.

• Morning program until 12:15: €120/week
• Full-day program until 16:00: €240/week

• Mala ulica Summer Vacation in the Laboratories of Center Rog (7-10 years)

Dates:

June 30th – July 4th, 2025

We will visit the production laboratories, where we will explore the use of various materials, tools, and machines. Most of the time will be spent on hands-on creation: in the glass workshop, we will try our hand at glass engraving and decorate glass containers, into which we will plant our own terrarium in the green lab. We will also create in the jewelry lab, woodworking lab, and metalworking lab. Every day, we will prepare a snack together, and one day we will try cooking a delicious lunch. There will also be time for a visit to the Rog Library, playing board games, free play in the outdoor courtyard, and exciting exploration of Center Rog.

Join us for a summer exploration of the magical world of animated films – the art of bringing the inanimate to life! We will learn the basic principles of moving images and try animating everything we can get our hands on! We’ll embark on a hunt for hidden animated images around the city and create animations in the Fablab (a workshop with various digital production tools). At the end of the week, we will combine all our creations into a collage of inspiring animations and add music to them.

Our creative journey will take us to the Rog Library, and we may even peek into the archive of the Slovenian Film Archive, which holds treasures of Slovenian animated films and optical toys. In addition to animation, we will spend time creating with our hands (embroidery, crocheting, sewing), playing board games, and enjoying relaxed play on the outdoor courtyard of Center Rog.

August 25th – August 29th, 2025

Under the mentorship of Nina Vastl Štefe, an architect and textile creator as well as a mother of four, we will explore life skills through play and creativity—skills that are rarely encountered elsewhere. Center Rog, with its diversity, provides a safe, inspiring, and stimulating space to explore the world of materials, food, colors, and natural processes.

The week will be dedicated to hands-on creation—painting fabric, sewing, wood carving, and experimenting with natural materials. Every day, we will prepare simple, homemade breakfasts and lunches in the cooking lab. In the textile lab, we will create our own piece of clothing from natural linen—whether a dress, T-shirt, or bag. We will dye fabric using natural dyes, cut it, and hand-sew it. We will learn the basics of sewing, cutting, and felting. In the woodworking lab, we will make wooden buttons, and in the green lab, we will explore the possibilities of dyeing with fruit peels and recycling food scraps. Cooking will be a daily part of the program, with a focus on simple dishes we love.

The price for the programs Mala ulica holidays in the Center Rog labs, Let's Play Film! and Threads, Fabric, and Hands for Kids is:

• For participants with permanent residence in MOL: €125 for the entire week (a second child receives a 30% discount on weekly registration, for the same term regardless of location), 4-day care €105 (payment per day/1 day is €28).
• For participants with permanent residence outside MOL: €250 for the entire week, 4-day care €210 (payment per day/1 day is €52).
