Opening of an annual RogExpo exhibition at Center Rog

We will showcase a selection of products and prototypes created in Center Rog's production labs and as part of the residency programme during our first year of operation. It includes a colourful collection of objects created by both amateur and professional designers. Selected innovative designs from our project studios and residential programme are displayed alongside bold achievements developed by young users of the Mladi Rog (Young at Rog) programme and the wonderful group products that were created in the relaxed atmosphere of meetups – from lace making to experimenting with biomaterials.

The exhibited objects follow this years' topic of RogDesignDays festival What can we learn from our ancestors?

The exhibition curators, Alja Fir and Anja Radović, based their selection on the makers' concept of creativity which can, as part of everyday life, be developed anywhere, and nurtured with practical experiences, curiosity, ingenuity and cooperation. This kind of perception of creativity includes everyone, regardless of their social status, gender, age, education or cultural background.

The opening will mark the first use of a community ceramic seed germination plate, created by designer Francisca Sottomayor as part of the Designer in Residency programme.

The 21-piece community plate (or seed germinator) encourages reflection on the interconnectedness of diverse ecosystems and cultures, and emphasises community living. The sprouted seed is an ancient, highly nutritious food source that can be crucial in environmental and nutritional crises, while symbolising new beginnings and hope.

Francisca, together with the team of the cooking lab and the culinary studio Majaronka, also prepared the banquet.

The opening will be accompanied by music by Tee Vidmar. The evening will continue with music by DJ Checkman.

The exhibition will be on show until 8 February 2025.
