The National Museum of Slovenia is announcing the 6th International Ceramics Triennial UNICUM 2026, held for the first time in partnership with Center Rog. The Triennial serves as a meeting point between the international and Slovenian ceramic scenes, offering a fresh perspective on ceramic art – and, for the first time this year, also on design and functional ceramics. The focus of the Triennial is on presenting contemporary artistic and design ceramics. It aims to popularise ceramics in both the Slovenian and international contexts, and to promote contemporary artistic and design ceramics as an independent discipline within the fields of visual art and design.

This year’s edition introduces a new open call for the exhibition Ceramic Form and Function: Beyond Use, organized by Center Rog, alongside the established call and exhibition program dedicated to artistic ceramics organised by the National Museum of Slovenia.

This exhibition will showcase innovative and functional ceramic works that rethink the usefulness and formal expression of ceramics – from tableware and household objects to unique pieces that engage with contemporary living spaces and architecture. In addition to traditional forms such as bowls, plates, and jugs, we are looking for works that push the boundaries of function: lighting, decorative objects, furniture elements, bathroom and kitchen accessories, sculptural pieces, and more.

We invite ceramic artists and designers from around the world to submit their work to “Ceramic Form and Function: Beyond Use”, an exhibition dedicated to contemporary approaches in functional and design ceramics.
