Open Call for the Exhibition at the 6th International Ceramics Triennial UNICUM 2026

As a leading international exhibition, UNICUM is held every three years and acts as a catalyst for emerging artistic trends, while emphasizing sustainability in contemporary art and design. It serves as a platform for artists, designers, and creators from around the world to present their latest works while embracing a strong green agenda. The UNICUM 2026 Triennial promotes sustainable practices by encouraging the use of environmentally friendly ceramic materials and techniques that reduce environmental impact. It aims to popularize ceramics in Slovenia and internationally and to present contemporary artistic ceramics as an independent genre in the field of visual arts.

This year, for the first time, the established call for entries and exhibition program in the field of artistic ceramics is joined by a public call for entries for an exhibition of applied ceramics entitled Ceramic Form and Function: Beyond Use, organized by Center Rog.

We are publishing the following:

• a public call for artists to participate in an exhibition of international productions in the field of artistic ceramics from the last five years, organized and carried out by the National Museum of Slovenia. The aim of the Triennial is to seek out elementary artistic explorations in connection with contemporary thinking. The stamp of modernity is brought about by the search for new bold concepts, technologies, and innovative artistic explorations that connect with contemporary life.

OPEN CALL - UNICUM 2026 – Design and Functional Ceramics Call

The 6th International Ceramics Triennial UNICUM 2026 will consist of a competitive exhibition, along with accompanying exhibitions and events throughout Slovenia. Alongside the competition, a student ceramics exhibition will take place at the National Museum of Slovenia, featuring works selected by invited mentors from art schools and academies.
