Open Call SIJW 2026

Designers of contemporary jewelry from Slovenia, Europe, and beyond are invited to participate in the main exhibition of the Slovenian Jewelry Week (SIJW) 2026. The open call is open until December 10, 2025.
Slovenian Jewelry Week (SIJW) is an internationally recognized central platform for presenting contemporary jewelry design in Slovenia. It serves as a space for expressing creativity, innovation, and professional expertise, as well as a bridge connecting the past, present, and future. SIJW celebrates art, dedication, and the passion for design, presenting contemporary jewelry as a reflection of the creators’ thoughts, ideas, and personalities. At the same time, it offers visitors the opportunity to experience the designers’ creative vision.
Participate in the main exhibition, which will be on view at Center Rog from March 26 to April 18, 2026. The theme of this year’s exhibition is MATTER / TRANSFORMATION. It will explore questions such as: What is matter? What is the essence of matter? Where does its transformation begin?
We invite all contemporary jewelry creators to explore and reflect on matter and its transformation. How do we perceive matter today? Where is its essence, and how do we experience it in a world where digitalization, artificial intelligence, and virtual realities are reshaping our connection with material?
We are looking for works that raise questions about the relationship between the material and the spiritual, the physical and the virtual, form and essence, tradition and modern technologies. Matter is not only tangible substance; it is a field of vibrations, a carrier of stories, a space for dialogue between different realities, with the designer serving as the intermediary. At this point, we ask whether an artist’s perception of matter is becoming a silent form of resistance – resistance as a return to essence, nature, and perception; to slowness; to the search for authenticity in a world of replication and imitation. Resistance against the loss of human inherent skills such as sensory-experiential bodily intelligence, imagination, and intuition.
We invite designers to explore their own experiences, perceptions, and relationships both with the technological and highly intuitive world, and to consider how these two worlds differ and where they meet. Can they coexist, or perhaps even unite and collaborate?
