Materials Playroom on Car-Free Day

The City Municipality of Ljubljana is participating in the European Mobility Week for the 24th consecutive year, the largest international campaign promoting sustainable mobility, which takes place every year from 16 to 22 September. This year, through various daily events, weekly activities, and lasting measures, the city will once again draw attention to the benefits of walking, cycling, using public transport, and other sustainable ways of getting around. All events are free for visitors.

At the initiative of the City Municipality of Ljubljana and in cooperation with six public institutions, an all-day event for children, Parking Lot/Theatre/Playground, will take place on Monday, 22 September, Car-Free Day, at Krek Square.

Together with Mala ulica, we will set up the Materials Playroom on the square for one day, encouraging creative, free play with various unstructured materials – wood, paper, textiles, clay, and other interesting leftovers from Center Rog workshops. Materials that would otherwise become waste are given a new chance for play.

In addition to Mala ulica and Center Rog, workshops will also be organized by Pionirski dom, an obstacle course by Zavod Varna pot, the puppet show Sapramiška by the Ljubljana Puppet Theatre, and a concert by Moj band from Pionirski dom.

The morning session is intended for organized groups of children, while the afternoon program is open to all families and children.

Afternoon program at Krek Square:

• 16:00–17:00: Workshops (Pionirski dom, Mala ulica, Center Rog, Zavod Varna pot, Hiša EU)
• 16:30–16:50: Concert – Moj band (Pionirski dom)
• 17:00–17:45: Sapramiška (Ljubljana Puppet Theatre)
