First result of the project Glassmaking between tradition and innovation - an innovative carbon footprint calculator
Center Rog participates in the international project Glassmaking Tradition Meets Innovation. The aim of the project is to develop and implement original tools for a green and digital transition in the creative glass industry. The project can already boast of its first result - an innovative online carbon footprint calculator for the glass industry, which was presented at the recent Energy Conference held in Zlatibor, Serbia, from 14 to 17 April 2025.
The digital calculator helps artists, craftspeople and companies working in the creative glass sector to calculate the carbon footprint of different handmade glass products. The aim of the calculator is to empower glass artists and craftspeople, to raise their awareness and equip them with the knowledge and tools for a carbon-neutral future, including in the glass sector. The Calculator is the result of an interdisciplinary collaboration between partners from Serbia, Slovenia and Denmark and is part of a wider aim to improve the quality of glass products on the European market.
The project is funded by the Creative Europe programme of the European Union, which also brings the cultural and creative sectors together in the green transition and in efforts to reduce environmental impacts and promote a circular economy. The project combines tradition with innovation, supporting the development of new business models and artworks in three creative glass laboratories where glassmakers will be able to experiment and create 12 new artworks. The project aims to digitally revitalise the glass heritage and to link contemporary creativity with the protection of cultural heritage.
