Center Rog will promote sustainable modes of operation and production

From September 12 to 14, the 5th International Conference on Technologies and Business Models for the Circular Economy – TBMCE 2022 is taking place in Portorož, organized by the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at the University of Maribor.
Renata Zamida, Director of Center Rog, took part in a panel discussion yesterday titled: “Transitioning to a Circular Economy: Technology Is a Necessary but Not Sufficient Condition.” Other panelists included Dr. Bojan Musil (Faculty of Arts, University of Maribor), Marjana Dermelj (Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy), Dr. Mitja Ruzzier (Faculty of Management, University of Primorska and co-founder of Amibit), Tine Lugarič (Trampolin), and Pieter Stoutjesdijk (TheNewMakers, Netherlands). The panel was moderated by Dr. Zorka Novak Pintarič from the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, University of Maribor.
Renata Zamida presented Center Rog as a space “where we will promote sustainable ways of operating, producing, and living, with a strong emphasis on the core principles of the circular economy. In this sense, we aim to become an environment that supports zero waste and zero pollution, and the creation of products and materials that remain in use.”
The panelists agreed that transitioning to a circular economy requires the integration of engineering with the humanities, creative sectors, social sciences, policy, finance, and more.
This year’s TBMCE conference focuses on pressing issues of technological development and the responsibility of society as it moves from fossil-based to renewable systems, and from linear to circular models.
