Training: Knitting Machine

The knitting station training is designed to teach the safe and proper use of two types of knitting machines: single-bed and double-bed knitting machines.

Machine knitting is a simple and fast technique compared to hand knitting, allowing for the creation of knitted fabric as a semi-finished product (knitted material used for cutting and sewing garments and other textile products). It is also suitable for knitting ready-to-use pattern pieces (zero-waste knitting). Household knitting machines can produce various patterns (lace, ribbing, smooth knits, effect yarn knitting, etc.), which can later be transformed into a variety of clothing and textile items. Whether it's fluffy yarn for a cozy winter sweater or cotton knitwear for underwear, with some practice, you can achieve beautiful results.

Our textile lab provides access to two types of knitting machines for users:

- Single-bed knitting machine Brother KH-580

- Double-bed knitting machine Singer Memomatic

How does work at the knitting station proceed?

After completing the training, users can book a session on a household knitting machine (single-bed or double-bed) and start working. We recommend dedicating your first session to testing and familiarizing yourself with the machine, especially if you are a complete beginner. Over time, you can progress from basic smooth knitting to more complex patterns and eventually to shaping individual pattern pieces to create fully fashioned knitted garments with zero waste.

Some test yarn is available in the textile lab, but for the production of final products, users must bring their own yarn. The yarn must be suitable for use with our knitting machines; before purchasing, please consult with the textile lab team.

Training is suitable for participants aged 14 or older.

Participants should gather 15 minutes before the scheduled start time in the entrance hall of Center Rog. Please store your personal belongings in the lockers, which the mentor will show you. Please be on time, as late arrivals disrupt the workflow. In the case of a delay, entry to the lab cannot be guaranteed.

The program will be conducted in Slovenian unless stated otherwise.

The program is intended for participants older than 14 years, except where noted otherwise.

In case of cancellation, you will be notified two days before the scheduled start.

If you are unable to attend the program, the registration fee is non-refundable, and it is not possible to change the date. You can transfer your participation to another person, but please notify us at least 24 hours before the program begins at the email address: tekstil@center-rog.si
