Lost Wax Technique
30. 1. 2025
Join us for a masterclass in making silver or gold jewelry using the lost wax technique. This course is ideal for professional jewelry designers who wish to learn a new technique or refine and expand their knowledge of wax modeling. It is also open to those who have completed both jewelry training sessions in the lab.
The masterclass consists of three sessions. The first session will focus on an introductory lecture on the technique and the creation of an unlimited number of jewelry pieces in wax using the freeform technique, where we will explore the properties of the material and modeling techniques with soft wax. We will also use a technique for creating impressions with a special two-component rubber. Participants will learn to work with various types of waxes designed for different final results, take measurements in wax for rings, and calculate the weight of the jewelry in silver or gold. In the second session, we will learn the carving technique in hard wax and how to shape jewelry from hard wax. Each participant will be able to cast an unlimited number of jewelry pieces, and during the course, we will complete two selected pieces and learn techniques for polishing silver or gold. We will work with files and saws, as well as with a micromotor and attachments, including drills for the micromotor. At the end, we will polish or patinate the jewelry and complete the final shaping techniques. The casting will be handled by the course mentor, and participants will cover the casting and material costs themselves. The final session will focus on polishing the two pieces to the desired final appearance. If a participant creates more pieces, they can complete them during open sessions with the acquired knowledge.
