Ceramic Box Making Workshop

Are you ready for a ceramic challenge? Join us for a course where we will shape storage boxes from clay. Everyone who wants to learn the technique of building with larger clay slabs, decorating with engobes, etc., is invited. In four sessions, we will learn all the steps of making a clay box, and the knowledge will also be useful for making other clay products. No prior knowledge is required.

On the first day, we will prepare the clay and slabs for shaping the box, sketch, and design the product. On the second day, we will shape and decorate the boxes. On the third day, we will refine and perfect the details and decorate them with engobes. On the last session, we will learn how to add details to products with underglaze colors and how to glaze the products.

The team of mentors from the Glass-Ceramics Lab will take care of firing the products. Participants will be able to pick them up at our "Made in Rog" store within one month after the workshop.

Duration: 4 sessions of 3 hours each

• Friday, March 21, from 5 PM to 8 PM
• Thursday, April 3, from 5 PM to 8 PM

Prior knowledge:

NO, prior knowledge is not required.

Is the workshop considered training?

YES, by attending the course, you will complete training for hand-building with a wheel and glazing training.

About the mentors:

The workshop will be led by Pia Mršek, a ceramic designer, interior designer, and mentor in the ceramics lab. Pia focuses on exploring sculptural furniture design and functional ceramics. She uses techniques like slab building, coil building, and wheel throwing. She also incorporates other materials into her work to add functionality to ceramics.

Courses costing more than € 100 can be paid in two instalments. Payment in two instalments is possible in the "Made in Rog" shop or by bank transfer by invoice if you email us at tajnistvo@center-rog.si.

The meeting for participants is 15 minutes before the scheduled time in the entrance hall of Center Rog. Please store your personal belongings in the lockers, which the mentor will show you. Please do not be late for the program as it disrupts the workflow. In case of delay, unfortunately, we cannot guarantee entry into the lab.

The program will be conducted in Slovenian, unless otherwise stated.

In case of cancellation, we will notify you two days before the planned start.

If you are unable to attend the program, the fee is non-refundable, and it is also not possible to change the date. You can transfer your participation to another person, and please notify us at least 24 hours before the program starts at: steklokeramika@center-rog.si
