Fusion Workshop

In this three-day workshop, each participant will create their own unique plate or cake tray and a glass from recycled window glass.

On the first day, we will start with a theoretical introduction to glass design using fusing and slumping techniques, then move on to the practical part. Each participant will choose a mold for their plate, then learn glass cutting and grinding. Glass pieces will be arranged in different patterns according to the shape of the mold. Next, we will learn how to properly prepare and load the glass into the kiln for the first fusing firing.

On the second day, we will take the glass out of the kiln and prepare it for the second firing, which involves slumping the glass over molds. This will give our plates their final shape. Once the kiln is prepared, we will also cut and grind glasses from bottles. Participants will be introduced to etching, engraving, and sandblasting techniques, which can be used later to decorate the cake tray and glass. On this day, we will test how these techniques behave on glass.

On the third day, we will finish and cold-process the glass plates, trays, and glasses. We will remove the plates from the kiln and grind the edges. If desired, each participant can decorate their plate using engraving, etching, or sandblasting techniques, and complete their glasses and trays.

The goal of the workshop is to create unique glass pieces, promote reuse and sustainability, and explore glass as a creative medium.

Courses costing more than €100 can be paid in two installments. Payment is possible at the Made in Rog store or by bank transfer upon receiving a pro forma invoice if you email us at tajnistvo@center-rog.si

Participants should gather 15 minutes before the scheduled start time in the entrance hall of Center Rog. Please store your personal belongings in the lockers, which the mentor will show you. Please be on time, as late arrivals disrupt the workflow. In the case of a delay, entry to the lab cannot be guaranteed.

The program will be conducted in Slovenian unless stated otherwise.

The program is intended for participants older than 14 years, except where noted otherwise.

In case of cancellation, you will be notified two days before the scheduled start.

If you are unable to attend the program, the registration fee is non-refundable, and it is not possible to change the date. You can transfer your participation to another person, but please notify us at least 24 hours before the program begins at the email address: steklokeramika@center-rog.si
