Join us for a three-day course where we will transform discarded window glass and glass bottles into truly unique handmade objects: a plate or cake stand and a glass. The course is open to everyone interested in working with glass, sustainable making, reuse, and handcrafting one-of-a-kind pieces.

1st session:

We will begin with an introduction to the theory behind glass forming, focusing on glass fusing and kiln-forming using molds. After the theoretical overview, we will move on to hands-on work. Each participant will choose a mold for their plate or platter, learn how to cut and grind glass, and compose glass pieces into interesting patterns. We will finish the day by preparing the glass and the kiln for the first firing — the fusing process.

2nd session:

During the second session, we will remove the fused glass from the kiln and prepare it for the second firing — slumping the glass over molds, where the plates and platters will gain their final shape. At the same time, we will focus on making glasses from bottles and explore decorative techniques such as etching, engraving, and sandblasting. These techniques will be tested on sample pieces to see how they behave on glass.

3rd session:

At the final session, we will focus on cold working and finishing all the pieces. Plates, platters, and glasses will be ground and refined, and participants may further decorate their work using selected techniques to add a personal touch. The result will be unique glass pieces, ready for everyday use or as a special gift.
