Summer Coral Earrings
29. 8. 2024
In this fun workshop, we will bring the beautiful underwater world to life in unique jewelry - patinated earrings in the shape of coral.
We will tackle the entire process of making metal jewelry. You will learn the basics of sawing, filing, and sanding metal, which will lead you to a perfect final product. We will also learn patination, i.e., durable coloring of metal, as well as texturing metal with appropriate tools.
We will start with small pieces of metal sheet, on which we will apply or draw a coral motif and then saw it out according to the mentor's instructions. The sawn piece will be filed, sanded, and textured with various forging tools. The second part of the coral motif will be colored with metal patina, allowing us to observe the interesting color transformation that patina adds to the base material. The final step will be preparing the earring findings and assembling the final motif.
The "coral" earrings are an extremely interesting combination of two different metals, textures, and colors.
