Would you like to wear unique earrings made of silver and crystal glass, while also completing three trainings—one in the Jewelry Lab and two in the Glass Lab?

This time, the Glass Lab and Jewelry Lab have joined forces. We will learn the technique of glass casting into molds. The glass pieces we create will then be ground or polished, enhanced with silver details, and shaped into unique dangling earrings. A beautiful fashion accessory for everyday wear or special occasions.

The course will take place in two parts across four sessions:

  • On the first session we will get acquainted with the technique of casting glass into molds made of plaster and quartz powder. Then we will move to practical work and start designing our product and creating models that will serve as the basis for our molds. Participants will be guided step by step by the mentor on how to design and shape the mold that will serve as the base for the glass products. Once the molds are finished, we will prepare them for firing and correctly stack the molds into the kiln.
  • On the second session we will take the pre-prepared molds out of the kiln and clean them. This will be followed by a presentation and demonstration of the use of grinding machines, where we will delve into cold working techniques of glass. The second session will be entirely dedicated to finishing products and precise processing, grinding, and polishing of glass.
  • On the third session we will get acquainted with shaping precious metals. We will get familiar with the jeweler’s bench, tools, and machines that we will use to make earrings. In practice, we will use sketches and models to design our earrings. Then we will prepare silver to the appropriate thickness, saw out desired shapes, file, grind, and texture the metal. With hammering we will get interesting results and dimensionality of the product.
  • On the fourth session we will focus on the final stages of earring making, such as polishing, matting, cleaning, and making earring findings. At the end we will assemble the silver parts of the earrings with the glass. That way beautiful unique earrings will be made.
