A wooden hand plane is one of the fundamental tools of every woodworker, with a long tradition of use and craftsmanship. At a time when machine processing dominates, the knowledge of making such tools by hand has become rare — and therefore all the more valuable.

This workshop offers a unique opportunity for participants to learn first-hand about the construction and function of a hand plane and to master the techniques that woodworkers have used for centuries to make their own tools.

The goal of the workshop is for each participant, under expert guidance, to create a fully functional wooden hand plane. The final result is not only the tool itself, but also an understanding of how it works.

Activities – what participants will do:

1st session:

-Introduction to the purpose, function, and basic structure of the hand plane.

-Review of the plan, components, and required tools.

-Selection of suitable wood (beech, ash, oak, etc.).

-Cutting the basic wooden parts (sides, center piece, wedge).

2nd session:

-Sawing the blade bed at an angle and preparing for gluing.

-Making and adjusting the wooden wedge for securing the blade.

3rd session:

-Flattening the sole and adjusting the mouth opening.

-Cutting the final shape on the bandsaw and edge sander.

-Oiling and finishing the surface.

-Inserting the blade, tuning the plane, and testing its performance.

-Final tips and presentation of the finished tools.
