Carnival Mask from Sawdust

Why not create a truly unique Carnival mask from sawdust this year? In this children’s workshop at the Green Lab, we will make a Carnival mask using waste sawdust, flour, and water. By cooking these ingredients, we will create a biocomposite mixture, which will be hand-shaped into a custom-designed mask.

This workshop is intended for children aged 8 to 12. Participants will learn how to prepare a biocomposite from sawdust and gain basic experience working in a lab using tools such as scales, heaters, and more.

After the workshop, children can take their masks home, let them dry, and use them for a special Carnival celebration.

About the mentors:

The workshop will be led by the mentors of the Green Lab.

Rok Oblak is an independent creator focused on product innovation using natural materials and biocomposites. He is the founder of Salto Dionys, a member of the Krater collective, and works at Delavnica Levo, where he has his own studio.

Zelimkhan Suleymanov is an architecture student, technologist, and mentor at RogLab and now Center Rog. In his @khan.delavnica workshop, he creates prototypes, models, and signage. At home, he also works with aquaponics, microgreens, and mycelium cultivation.

Participants should gather 15 minutes before the scheduled time in the entrance hall of Center Rog. Please store your personal belongings in the lockers provided, as instructed by the mentor. Do not arrive late, as this disrupts the workflow. In case of delay, we unfortunately cannot guarantee entry into the lab.

The program is conducted in Slovenian, unless stated otherwise.

If the workshop is canceled, you will be notified two days in advance.

If you are unable to attend, fees are non-refundable, and rescheduling is not possible. However, you may transfer your spot to another person – please inform us at least 24 hours before the workshop via email at zeleni@center-rog.si.
