In this creative workshop, we will make a real bird feeder out of reclaimed wood!

Children will discover how, with a bit of skill, some basic tools, and imagination, they can transform unused pieces of wood into a practical and beautiful object that will delight both them and the birds.

During the workshop, we will learn the basics of woodworking – how to safely use a hand drill, screw in screws, cut wooden boards with a hand saw, and sand surfaces with an orbital sander. In the end, we’ll protect our bird feeder with a natural wood finish, making it ready for the winter days ahead.

The workshop is designed for children who enjoy creating and working with wood and who want to learn how everyday wooden objects are made. No prior knowledge is required – just enthusiasm and a love for making things!

It is intended for children aged 8 to 14.

About the mentor:

The workshop will be led by Anže Jenko, a mentor in the wood lab.
