Molecular Cuisine for Children: Sweets from Polymers [20.1.]
20. 1. 2024

At the workshop, children will create edible sugar packets from natural polymers. They will get to know a new type of bioplastic that is entirely natural and can be eaten, demonstrating to children that our future can also be free of environmentally harmful plastics. During the workshop, we will add natural dyes and flavors to biopolymers and use them to package sweet and honey treats. We will experience the magic of molecular cuisine and use an electric grill to package balls with drinks or make sweet or sour candies.
All the goodies that are not consumed and dissolved in warm drinks during the workshop will be taken home, delighting their loved ones with a molecular feast.
The workshop is intended for children aged 7 to 15 years, and no prior knowledge is required.
The workshop mentors are the team Scientists and Researchers Against Plastic and Dr. Uroš Novak, who has been creating community science for several years, combining a passion for research with an entrepreneurial approach.
Participants should gather in the entrance hall of the Center Rog 5 minutes before the agreed-upon time. Children attend the workshop without the accompaniment of parents.
